The history of Schneider Weisse is inextricably linked to wheat beer and the Schneider brewing family. The story begins as early as 1607, when Duke Maximilian I championed the spread of wheat beer in Bavaria. Under his influence, the first “Weisses Bräuhaus” was established in Kelheim, on the site where the Schneider Weisse brewery would later be built.

At the same time, elsewhere, the story of the Schneider family unfolded. Generation after generation, knowledge, craftsmanship, and love for the brewing trade were passed down. In 1872, these two stories converged when Georg Schneider I, together with his son, obtained the right to brew wheat beer. In doing so, they laid the foundation for Schneider Weisse as we know it today.

Since then, the Schneider family has repeatedly demonstrated that tradition and innovation go hand in hand. Each generation contributed to the growth of the brewery, without losing sight of the original character of the wheat beer. Through entrepreneurship, quality, and a strong connection to the family business, Schneider Weisse grew into an internationally renowned brand.

More than 140 years after its founding, Schneider Weisse continues its course, both in Germany and abroad. The sixth generation is now at the helm, and with Georg VII, the son of the current brewery director, the future of the family business also seems secured. In this way, Schneider Weisse remains true to its origins: a family business with a great passion for exceptional wheat beer.
