Brewery
Demory was founded in Paris in 1827, where it grew into one of the city's better-known local breweries. In the 19th century, when Paris still had dozens of breweries, Demory symbolized traditional brewing and the social character of beer. In the course of the 20th century, a large number of Parisian breweries disappeared under pressure from industrialization and economies of scale. Demory managed to hold out for some time, but ultimately closed its doors for good in 1953.
In 2009, Demory was revived by a group of entrepreneurs, making it one of the first modern craft breweries in Paris. The brewery deliberately positioned itself as an accessible alternative to the then limited selection of specialty beers in the city.Since 2017, Demory has been operating from a larger, modern brewery in Bobigny, on the Canal de l'Ourcq, just outside Paris. From this location, it brews both classic styles and modern beers, and plays a visible role in the development of the Parisian craft beer scene.
